We have two exciting new exhibits at the Augusta Historical Museum.  One is a collection of Indian artifacts on loan from Mark and Kay McCollom.  Most of the artifacts and photos came from a man in Santa Fe, New Mexico who is an avid collector and buys things from museums that go out of business.  There are some very rare artifacts such as photos from Hopi dances that most outsiders have never seen and also an Indian funeral from a tribe in the Northeast US.  We also have some outstanding beadwork and artifacts in incredible condition.   Another exhibit we have is also on loan from the El Dorado History Center.  In 1908 a new courthouse was built in El Dorado and a time capsule was put in the cornerstone of the new building.  Last year in October, 100 years later, the time capsule was opened at a ceremony at the courthouse.  We have the time capsule contents on display.  I'm not going to tell you what's inside so you'll have to come and see for yourself.  Don't miss these unique exhibits that will only be here for a limited time.

Wow, what a great Yesteryear Fair.  Now I know this is the first one that I have been actively involved in but I must say it was probably the best.  It's always great when a group of people can come together and make something wonderful happen.  A big thank you to Troy Nordman for all of his hard work and organization of the event.  If you missed it, never fear we'll do it again next year!
