ABOUT US AS A HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Board of Directors of the Augusta Historical Society consists of 13 board members and a Director. This is a working and active group; performing most of the maintenance and upkeep of the museum and cabin. The board members also carry-out all fundraising activities. The board meets every third Wednesday of the month. The elected officers are President, Secetary and Treasurer. We hold elections every year. To be a board member, one must enjoy being involved, history, and love their small town of Augusta. We (The Board of Directors) believe that it is our obligation to preserve what has been past on to us, so we can pass it on to the next generation. We continually promote our past in order for the younger generation to develop an interest. Our means of financial stability are primarily from yearly membership fees , fundraisers, grants and generous contributions. In the past two years, we have been concentrating more on membership drives which have increased our membership approximately 10%. (More about membership How To Become a Member section) The many volunteers are very important to our museum and cabin operation. On Saturday and Sunday of every week the museum is operated by a community volunteer.
